HUGH E. MEARS  -  DSH POLICE CHIEF METROPOLITAN

Personal

Chief of Police Hugh E. Mears has been the Chief here at Metropolitan since July of 2006. Prior to joining this department he spent almost 27 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and 10 years with the University Of Southern California Department of Public Safety. During Chief Mears 26 plus years at LASD he had numerous assignments as a deputy and sergeant, including Patrol, Narcotics, Weapons Training and custody.

 

Message from the DSH Police Chief - Metropolitan State Hospital

It is my honor and privilege to be the Chief of Metropolitan State Hospital Police Department. Our Department has essentially re-established itself with a focused purpose and mission over the past three years. The substantive organizational transformation we have experienced has only been made possible by a methodical approach, founded in core principles and values with a focus on patient and staff safety. The men and women of this Department consistently demonstrate sound leadership and are at the forefront of maximizing the overall efficiency of service levels, while always focused on treating our patients, staff, and visitors with dignity and respect.
