CA Dept of State Hospitals - 2018 Public Forensic Mental Health Forum: Decriminalizing Mental Illness

June 7-8, 2018
Department of Health Care Services Auditorium
1500 Capitol Avenue
Sacramento, CA 95814

About the Forum:

Growing forensic populations continue to create new challenges for state hospitals around the country.  The IST epidemic along with increased inpatient violence provide evidence that individuals with serious mental illness are experiencing an increased trend in criminalization.  The forum seeks to use data and best practices to start a national conversation about how to reverse this trend, and make state hospitals a place for decriminalization as well as treatment.  Topics will include research and data presentations, criminogenic risk, trauma-informed care, novel psychopharmacology and more.
